A New Home

Hello my friends! Did you miss me? A lot has changed in the past month. I packed up my life, left DC, took a train to Georgia, hung out in Atlanta with my family for three glorious weeks of unemployment during which the concept of “days of the week” lost all meaning, bought a car, drove down to Savannah to move into my new apartment, had to unexpectedly and quickly find a new, new apartment, moved in, started my new job and began to unpack my life.

I’ve got stories and pictures to share but first, the really important stuff: My etsy store is off vacation mode and open once again. Moving was really expensive so help a sister out and go buy something. I’ve even added some pretty new things in case you were getting sick of punctuation marks.

And now the fun stuff: Pictures of all my stuff arranged in a new way in a new space! I’ve been trying for the past two weeks to turn this wide open area not unlike an airplane hanger into something resembling a home and I think it’s finally in some sort of shape. There’s a bedroom area, a bathroom area, a kitchen area, and a craft area. What more do you really need? At some point I’ll find a couch and attempt a living area, but that’s really a secondary concern.

photo IMG_4534_zps2ec23cdd.jpgHere’s the view from the front door that I see every day when I come home: a hook for my keys, a table for the mail and other things that I need to remember as I’m running out the door.

photo IMG_4520_zpsb72c64eb.jpgObligatory bathroom shot. The number one thing I’ve learned about my apartment so far is that it’s excellent for plucky heroine from a romantic comedy dancing while getting ready montages. The shower (which you can’t see) is no exception because it is 1) huge and 2) covered in those same mini-tiles. No slipping!

And my impossibly pretty kitchen gadgets. I bought the crock pot from the Humane Society’s thrift store and it may be, no joke, the best 10 bucks I’ve ever spent.

photo IMG_4524_zps6ba4217c.jpgThis is where the magic happens. By magic I mean crafts. There’s a sewing machine set up just to the right of everything going on and beautiful, new to me, table that is a great height for cutting AND eating.

The work in progress board, with new ideas and a few things that are up now in the etsy store. HINT HINT.

It appears that while I was on my hiatus, Flickr freaked out and stopped allowing HTML embeds for images. I’ll be experimenting with other photo hosting sites in order to find a delivery system that I like. Until that happens, please forgive any weirdly proportioned pictures. Or just let me know in the comments.

I’m excited about this home. It wasn’t what I ever envisioned myself in, all sleek and modern and tall, but it’s mine now and I’m pretty excited about the potential it already shows.
